Background Check and Training for Volunteers

The Office for the Protection of Children & Vulnerable Adults (OPCVA) of the Diocese of San Jose is committed to fostering healthy relationship by means of educating, training, and screening all adults who have regular access to children, youth and vulnerable adults within the Diocese of San Jose for the purpose of preventing harm.
Volunteers at St. Simon Parish must meet the Safe Environment requirements of the Diocese of San Jose for the protection of children and vulnerable adults. All volunteers who minister directly with either of these populations must be fingerprinted and complete an online training.

VIRTUS Online Training

Please visit https://www.dsj.org/protecting-gods-children/ for online Safe Environment training. Session will take about 90 minutes and you can stop and restart training as needed. Once completed you will receive a Certificate of Completing. Please download as a .pdf, or print the certificate, and email or deliver to mwilley@stsimon.org for school volunteers, or rectory@stsimon.org for parish volunteers. You may also drop off a copy to the rectory or school office.
